HOT TRAXXX: GOTHAM

Hey, right off the bat I just want to say to HEALTH that it's sooooooo nice to hear anything new from you guys! You've really been missed! I guess these dudes are spending time making awesome covers because this, their version of Pictureplane's "Goth Star", is everything these things should be. Now it's totally a HEALTH song while keeping everything that is special about the original intact: namely it's glitterbomb fireworks display and it's genius sampling of Fleetwood Mac's oft-forgotten "Seven Wonders".

Not that anyone needed a reminder of how great this track was but GODDAMN it still has legs! Good on you, nuders.

USA BOYS // DISCO2

MP3: HEALTH - USA BOYS

HEALTH are releasing a new remix album "DISCO2", the sequel to 2008's "DISCO". The collection begins with a brand new song called "USA Boys", which is pretty rad. A total party planner.

Maybe FY!GT! will get thanked in this collection too (the band including us in the liners of DISCO is still a highlight of this blog).

DISCO2 sees release June 22nd from Lovepump United.

You will all die slow.

MP3: Health - Die Slow

Health has been mighty good to this blog over the years, getting us a lot of hits/downloads and even thanking us in their remix cd that came out last year. I'm pretty sure we'll always try to be as good to them too forever, and it's not hard when they churn out hit after hit.

The gods has returned with a new single for their greatest song yet, "Die Slow", a salivating taste from their in-progress full length "Get Color", which every blog ever is pre-hyping as the greatest album of all time before even hearing it. I'm going to join them: "Get Color" is light years beyond fantastic and a big breath of fresh air for this year, as 2009 has lacked anything resembling originality. Thank a high fucking power for Health. Shine on, friends.

The "Die Slow" 7 inch is out now from Lovepump United.

HEALTH: sheds noise and welcomes disco.

MP3: Health - Triceratops (CFCF Rmx)

Low and behold, Health has given their debut more life! Charging up the paddles, they put on the juice into the heart of that square blue wonder and ZAP! out comes "HEALTH//DISCO", from the incredible Lovepump United. Friends and family alike all came by to gaze in awe and wonder at this new sound, each throwing in their own bits and pieces of genius to transform already great songs into something new and different.

Using our extra strong teeth, we here at Fuck yeah! Go team! bit off a sample for you. Gather round, baby lions, and feast on this. CFCF "rmx" (that stands for "remix" young cubs) the powerful "Triceratops" with extra delight and juices that I think you will all enjoy.

If you like the sample, please visit your local grocer (AKA record store/online vendor) and prepare to feast on the lp that is... HEALTH//DISCO!

Also, it should be noted that this release is extra delicious because Health seem to be the nicest fucking gents on this planet (and maybe others) and were kind enough to give thanks to the blogs that posted about them in their growing times. Thankfully, the PR Gods were kind enough to make sure that THIS blog was around with ears to be one of them, and the band gave us a nice thank you in the liners. Thank you Health, Lovepump, Fanatic and everyone who downloaded the songs from the post. It was an honour.

HEALTH//DISCO is released NEXT Tuesday, May 27th on Lovepump United.

Clipd Beaks

MP3: Clipd Beaks - Hoarse Lords

MP3: Clipd Beaks - Black Glass

I don't think I've ever been so stumped on a write up for an album like I have been for Clipd Beaks' "Hoarse Lords" and I think it's because it is sooo good. I can't explain why, I can just tell you that it tends to get loud, spastic and sexy; the vocals crawl out through heavy layers of various instrumentation to show themselves as something special and the songs are exactly as long as you want them to be. Maybe I like it so much because it's both original and fulfilling, unlike most of the time when you hear something unique and it's really terrible (aka weird for weird's sake). Also, the artwork has breasts in it, and who doesn't love breasts?

You know what, the fact that I was able to say all of that makes me proud of myself. Thank you Clipd Beaks, for challenging me to do this. The ball is in your court now. Support this wonderful art.

"Hoarse Lords" is out now on the label on a roll Lovepump United.

Health

MP3: Health - Crimewave

MP3: Health - Perfect Skin

The best thing about about the upcoming self titled cd from Los Angeles foursome Health? It sounds fucking good. Recorded at the Smell, an all ages venue with vintage equipment (such as ribbon microphones used for 1930 radio broadcasts), this 11 song album will sound like pure gold through your speakers during it's near 29 minute run. While it's short and sweet, it manages to cut through the bullshit and deliver something so grand that it requires countless repeat listens.

The album tends to challenge the listener with droning beats before bursting into absolute brilliance, best seen in the dreaminess found in the middle of "// M \\" which is bookended by pounding drums before coming to it's center of goodness. Speaking of the drums, they sound beyond huge. The band, giving off hints of Lightning Bolt and Liars at times, make use of their creativity and push into noises so interesting and catchy it becomes a new form of infectious.

Rarely will you find an album that is different but flows completely throughout it's run in your cd player. This is that album, and it is highly recommended. With many high profile remixes and a tour coming to (most likely) your city this month and next, now is the time to hop on the Health bandwagon. I will bet this band will make plenty of waves soon enough.
