HOT TRAXXX: Chrome Sparks - So Far 2 Go (feat. Steffaloo) [VIDEO/MP3]

MP3: Chrome Sparks - So Far 2 Go (feat. Steffaloo)

Around this time each year is when you'll typically find everyone goes nuts, trying to find a summer track that embodies everything they want at that particular moment in time - a personal coda to hold close the whole season long. I've found it best not to force these things and just let them come naturally, which is exactly what just happened to me with this Chrome Sparks ripper.

"So Far 2 Go" (featuring a very talented Steffaloo) says everything I need it to in it's movable bliss, but the accompanying video is what drives the point completely home: It's SUMMER 2012, let's boogie.

ENDORSED.

HOT TRAXXX: The Walkmen - Heartbreaker [MP3]

Disclosure: I've never really been a Walkmen fan. In passing, even though I've given their albums each a shot or two over the last decade, something just never really clicked. Even now, not so much. However, I must give credit where it's due, and "Heartbreaker" is a brilliant song, start to finish. Even will the cheesy line "it's not the singer, it's the song", the rest of the song remains unaffected. It's a summertime romp, one meant for the rolled-down windows and loud playing. Bop and enjoy.

Perfume Genius - All Water [MP3]

When Matador released this track from the album in winter, I was intrigued. I never listened to the first Perfume Genius album, so it really caught me off-guard. Crawl a few months forward and it's still one of the prettiest tracks of the year to hit my ears, its dense synths powering the song forward. Enjoy.

HOT TRAXXX: Lemonade - Neptune [VIDEO/MP3]

"Neptune"
Diver
Directors: House Plants and Weird Days

The best white people r&b jams are super stalker-ish, and this new one from Lemonade is in good company. Plus? The video has tits in it.

I'm all in. Diver is out at the end of the month.

JEFF the Brotherhood - Sixpack [STREAM]

Hypnotic Knights is a new EP from the rifftacular JEFF the Brotherhood, produced by Dan from the Black Keys. That's a damn fine blend, and you can get your first taste right now with a nice refreshing "Sixpack".

HOT TRAXXX: R. Kelly - Share My Love [VIDEO]

R. Kelly
"Share My Love"
RCA 2012

After weeks of listening to a bootleg audio track of this on YouTube, it's finally got a video. While it's hard to compare it to the videos for "Echo" and "Be My #2", Kells is bringing a more formal element to the composition which we'd seen in last year's "When a Woman Loves" clip. Enjoy.

HOT TRAXXX: Icona Pop - I Love It [VIDEO]

Bandwagon, jumped. I love it. Enjoy.

HOT TRAXXX: Kitty Pryde - Okay Cupid [VIDEO/MP3]

"Okay Cupid"

Party time! 19 year olds "get it" every now and then: that's certainly worth a blue ribbon and a cake.

HEALTH - TEARS [STREAM]

Fuck yeah, new HEALTH music is always a damn good thing and these dudes just seem to keep getting better each time. Now they're scoring video games, that's some next level shit (get it?).

The Best Song Ever: Afghan Whigs - My Curse (Peel Session) [MP3]

As us Whig fans celebrate the mighty return of the giants that walk the earth, here is a track from a 1994 Peel Session. "My Curse" in it's context on Gentlemen is sung by Marcy Mays of Scrawl, which is quite great, but there's a reason we don't post mp3s by that band: that shit ain't Greg Dulli.

He finally sings on his song, bringing something already great to new levels, bumming you out in a completely different way. It's awesome.

I do love Mays singing on this track too, though. Here she is joining the dudes on stage at the Reading Festival (also in '94):

DAVID BOWIE FRIDAYS: Young Americans [MP3]

Enjoy.

Jaill - Perfect Ten [MP3]

Jaill's newest effort Traps is coming out on June 12th from Sub Pop, and it's probably gonna be real good like all of their other records. "Perfect Ten" is on it and it sounds like a guitar getting stoned while getting a hummer from a pretty girl. Give it a go, friend!

Chromatics - Kill for Love [MP3]

As I struggle today to find something to post, Johnny Jewel dropped a zip file on the internet's lap: 11 songs from their genius Kill for Love LP, all minus drums. You can download that, free of charge, by clicking these words right here.

I haven't heard it yet - I can't imagine I will find much value in it, but that was awfully nice of him to offer up such a thing and it gives me an excuse to post today's song. It has drums, it's great.

Twin Shadow - Five Seconds [MP3]

Finally, there is a new Twin Shadow record coming out and it sounds like the dude hasn't missed a beat. Apparently the whole thing was inspired by L.A. motorcycle rides - killer.

Confess comes out in the states on July 10th from 4AD.
