Hello Saferide

MP3: Hello Saferide - I was definitely made for these times

It's impossible to delve into music from Sweden and not end up finding and loving Hello Saferide. You can find a million mp3 blogs posting songs and going crazy for Annika Norlin's charming pop songs that highly impossible not to relate to.

So this is something different. This is the A side to a single released by London's Regal Records. She describes it as "a song that was both stupid and smart at the same time, in true Motown style. I think I succeeded." I think so too. Hopefully a preview of what's to come from a great songwriter.

(thanks to reader Thomas for correcting me on a bass line mistake, yikes!)

{buy "i was definitely made for these times" from rough trade}
{buy other hello saferide recordings from it's a trap}

Thanks so much! I've been looking for this everywhere.

By the way, I am pretty sure that when Annika mentioned that Jens did the bass, she meant Jens Lagergren, who is HS’s bass player. Not Jens Lekman (though, when I first read that, I thought of Jens Lekman as well...)

thanks for the tip, but if you check the archives i posted "me and you and everyone you know" in either march or february. i'm pretty well in the scandinavian scene.

but about the maia cd, it's alright, it's a bit too slow other than the first single.

Fuck yeah! Thank you so much for this. I'm in love with Annika (well, I'm in love with all sorts of female singers, but Annika is pretty close to the front of the queue).

I'm really enjoying your blog, and will flag this on the Hello Saferide entry I posted last night on mine.

I love this song, and pretty much all Hello Saferide stuff, but does it download with a little hiccup in the beginning of the second verse? I tried to buy it on itunes but I can't buy stuff from the UK store, apparently.

Sorry, this is the only copy of the song I have. I'm sure it'll pop up somewhere soon.
