Seeing as the live documentation of Neil Young's ill-fated "International Harvesters" phase got shelved by Geffen, he's finally released the live documentation that shows who fucked that one up big time. "Grey Riders", the closing track on the set rips, and there's really no other way of describing it. The sound mix is phenomenal, allowing the distorted guitars to kick, the pedal steel to bridge and the synth-strings to be used most tastefully. If I had a car I would blast this one all day long. Enjoy.

I finally caught a ticket to the Neil Young Archives Vol. 1 (1963-1972) train and I suggest you get on board. Pack your honey slides and dive in to 8 cds or 9 dvds/blu-ray featuring some previously released tracks that sound better than ever before and a ton of new-to-you dizzy gems that invite constant listens. There's the Squires, Buffalo Springfield, CSNY and, yes, Crazy Horse too. Here are 3 choice nuggets, all hits. I hope to not wait as long for the next installment, but in the meantime let's all get as ripped as Neil is in the above photo. Fuck yeah!

I think you should know something: your record, "Songs III: Bird On the Water" is 99.9% going to be my #1 album of 2007.

Releasing it in the states with 4 bonus downloadable tracks, demos and covers on Stereogum, the new Daytrotter session and now another Neil Young cover, is all very wonderful. Not that you needed it, but I'm pretty sure doing all of that created the .1% needed to allow you to bring home the gold. Congratulations!

Brr huh? Thinking of winter? Always a good time to enjoy some Neil Young. I've heard "Winterlong" is about cocaine, which makes it one of those jams you can make your lover swoon over and think of drugs in the back of your mind.

The covers? Well the Pixies contributed their version to a 1989 tribute album to Mr. Young. and the lovely matt pond PA covered this jam on their "Winter Songs" ep from that golden age of 2005. Oh how the time will pass ye by.
