HOT TRAXXX: AlunaGeorge - Attracting Flies [STREAM]

While I've liked most everything I've heard from AlunaGeorge thus far, "Attracting Flies" is the first HOLY SHIT song of theirs that has hit my ears. It's beat and vocals are butter slick, lettuce fresh and bubblegum catchy - it's the kind of track you need to instantly repeat as soon as it's over.

Their debut Body Music doesn't come out until the summer, which is criminal but also perfect timing for something of this caliber.

Cold Cave - Oceans With No End [STREAM]

Here's a new Cold Cave track for you, coming from a single titled Oceans With No End out "soon" from Deathwish Inc.

Sally Shapiro - Starman (feat. Electric Youth) [STREAM]

Always glad to hear new pop music from Sweden's Sally Shapiro, and their newest single "Starman" comes packaged with bonus all-stars: Electric Youth (whom we all fondly remember from the genius Drive soundtrack) co-wrote and appear on the track, giving it a little extra shine... and boy does it.

Keep an eye open February 26th for Somewhere Else, coming out on Paper Bag Records.

HOT TRAXXX: The Men - Electric [STREAM]

It's a new year, which means we can count on The Men releasing another killer album - New Moon comes out March 5th, while the first single "Electric" will be released as a 7 inch later this month, with non-album cut "Water Babies" on side B. Oh yes, I like 2013 very much.

FUCK YEAH: Tame Impala - Elephant [MP3]

MP3: Tame Impala - Elephant

Tame Impala has written many great songs, but "Elephant" is the first one I've heard that is unforgettable. With it's hazy production values and a riff like a fist, the track is just completely unrelenting through and through - it's a virus that will forever rest deep within your insides, constantly pummeling you as a reminder that this is the real fucking shit and you ain't worth a goddamn thing. Fuck yeah.

Holy shit! Bat for Lashes is showing her pubes! Uh, oh plus all of the important details for LP3 have been released: The Haunted Man (that's the cover up there) is coming out in the states this October 23rd and it has a single: check out the video for "Laura", which visually isn't the best, but BFL's worst is everyone else's gold metal.

No Waves / No Ass

Mom + Pop 2012

Cop this single, it's some great rock n roll and its cover is graced with extra radical art by my pal Brendan Donnelly. FUCK IT DOG LIFE'S A RISK!!

HOT TRAXXX: Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - Baby [STREAM]

Here's that Ariel Pink cover of 1979's great pop gem "Baby", by Donnie & Joe Emerson. This version is better, #nolie. See you in August, Mature Themes.

Niki & the Dove - Tomorrow [VIDEO]

Spaceships? Forests?! Holy shit, HOT TRAXXX alumni Niki & the Dove really "get" me. The album comes out in May, I think on the 15th for the USA. I saw them play a few weeks ago and they were beyond terrific, so naturally I'm pretty pumped for this LP.

HOT TRAXXX: Loosegoats - Montananas [STREAM]

The mighty Loosegoats have returned after a decade plus absence to give Americana a boost from it's current malaise. With singer Christian Kjellvander becoming on of the most consistent singer-songwriters of the decade though, this is really no surprise. Lush vocals with distorted guitars, a driving beat and a powerful chorus—what's not to love? Enjoy.

FUCK YEAH: Holograms - ABC City [MP3/VIDEO]

MP3: Holograms - ABC City

It was nearly a year ago that Matthew called Captured Tracks "the Drive-Thru Records of indie pop", but Sweden's Holograms takes the label in a more bad ass direction.

"ABC City" comes from the single of the same name, which is out on April 3rd. Cop this, it's a rocker.

Lower Dens - Brains [MP3]

MP3: Lower Dens - Brains

A new Lower Dens album in 2012? That's great news! They're calling it Nootropics and Ribbon Music is going to release it May 1st! But first - a single! "Brains" is the first peek of this highly anticipated beast and it will debut as a double 10" (with album track "Propagation" and b-side "Hours" along for the ride) which you can pre-order now - that's the art for it above.

Sounds coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool!

BONUS: Enjoy an mp3 of the a side - "Origins", which will appear on their forthcoming LP2 Young and Old on Fat Possum. Excited for this one, as the group seems to have amplified everything that was charming about them and abandoned the lackluster songwriting that plagued their last effort Cape Dory, preventing it from becoming anything memorable.

Souterrain Transmissions, clearly with an eye for no-brainers, is releasing a new EMA single for Past Life Martyred Saints gold metal hit "Marked". It also comes backed with new song "Angelo", which you can download here (NOTE: I will update with a better quality mp3 once it becomes available to me).

The single is available digitally now and becomes physical on November 21st. Make your dreams come true.

Glass Candy - Halloween [MP3/VIDEO]

MP3: Glass Candy - Halloween

I was going to say it, but Glass Candy seems to be getting the message across better than I ever could. Have fun tonight!

HOT TRAXXX: Warm in the Winter

MP3: Glass Candy - Warm in the Winter

Hot damn! Glass Candy released another on fire single - it's called Warm in the Winter, it's backed with "Beautiful Object" and it just further proves these mother fuckers can hang, staying cool as hell.

FUCK YEAH: Bad as Me

MP3: Tom Waits - Bad as Me

Every time Tom Waits raises his head, music stops. It doesn't stop because it's run out, it's stops because of the blindsiding that occurs. At that point, you'd think it would reevaluate it's position, but it just keeps prostrating to the admonishment being delivered by Mr. Waits. He's the voice of reason; he brings character to the world. With Bad as Me seeing release this October, I can only hope an appropriate Dickensian winter (finally) follows suits. Enjoy.

HOT TRAXXX: Somebody (Drum Machine Version)

MP3: Niki & the Dove - Somebody (Drum Machine Version)

The whole recently released/shockingly under hyped single for The Fox by Niki & the Dove is incredible, but it's high mark is closer "Somebody" - credited as a drum machine version. It raises all sorts of questions for the sound of the forthcoming album's counterpart, but what's presented here is pure pop TNT, completely impossible to resist. 26 plays on my iTunes and rising...
