I considered myself a casual fan of the Black Lips until their most recent album Arabia Mountain, which has had more last power than I ever thought possible. Burger Records just released it on 500 cassettes (with the first 150 orders getting orange and the rest are clear), you should snag a copy like I did. Hopefully we'll get the orange tapes!

So the new Black Lips record is upon, and to much surprise, it's full of hits. In the past, the Atlanta quartet's albums have been bogged down by duds, which really made for long listening—which is odd because they've always had great songs thrown in the mix. On Arabia Mountain we find them running the gamut of jangly 1960s pop, all with great success. Here we have for you a brace of tracks for the hit parade. Enjoy.

Guess I never did a post displaying my excitement for the Black Lips/King Khan & BBQ Show group The Almighty Defenders. 2 songs have been released online (the 2 in this post) and so far, they've got me very hyped. Believe in it, it's coming September 22nd on Vice.

Sometimes it may better to wait for an album to actually be released to it give a listen, and such was the case for me with the new Black Lips album "Good Bad Not Evil". I wish this album was released in June, as its rather sunny, and could easily have been one of the feel-good hits of said just past summer (although technically speaking we'll have to wait a few more days). Anyway, the two tracks I'm giving you here are just great pop songs filtered through that lo-fi jangle of the Black Lips.
