About a month had passed prior my hearing this, yet now it's been stuck in my head and it's all I've wanted to hear. Perhaps it's the furious delivery, or Carl Olsson's terse vocals, or the awesome keyboards—but most likely all of it. I cannot wait until their new album Mischmasch is released, so until then, enjoy.

Most of them I didn't find through music, and the relationships are based on almost every other aspect of their lives but the songs themselves. It's a strange way to think of what your good friends' do in that almost exclusionary, removed way—because it obviously does make them part of who they are—but at the same time it's the least important part for each other, for the friendships.

Destroyer is so many years into the game, constantly delivering new and interesting music that "Kaputt" could've easily been enjoyed and forgotten just as quickly, if it weren't so inspired and timeless. It's beyond a game changer, and sprinkled with fun facts that the classic records thrive on (dude recorded vocals while lying down on a couch!).

I've found the whole thing to be incredibly enjoyable, but "Downtown" is an iTunes 5 star song. Fur real.

The music video for the title track "Kaputt" has already made the viral rounds, and deservingly so: it's the visual definition of brilliant.

"Kaputt" is released on the 25th of this month via Merge in the compact disc (why?) and vinyl formats.

The most frustrating thing about returning to Connecticut is that 98% of anyone who plays an instrument in this state chooses the wrong path, and that 99% of the listening population here could give a shit. That's fine. I gave up trying to change that a long time ago, but every now and then you get a glimmer of hope and today I present the new brightness: Even Artichokes Have Hearts.

Too often though, we find ourselves being sold the next big hype, regardless of what subcultural group we find ourselves clinging dearly to, trying to find a niche in a modern, anonymous world. Unfortunately, we find ourselves holding onto shifting trends—just look at the first decade of this century. We're not sold anything with longevity, it's all a quick fix. This is why when something as gorgeous as Africa 50 comes around, it's relieving. The music on this 18-disc opus , although daunting, provides one with an exceptionally rewarding and immersing listens. Enjoy.

I was listening to the self titled LP from Australia's Bag Raiders that's coming out on Modular on January 25th (happy birthday Daniella & Tom!), which I'm only doing because that label is so goddamned consistent (ceo, Tame Impala, etc).

Anyway, I was on the track "Golden Wings" and the image above appeared in my Tumblr stream. Then it stays up with the rest of the album playing, seeming to go together like peanut butter and fuckin' jelly: so here we are. I'm going with it.

Dance music is going fucking nowhere lately: no one is trying. This fares better and while I can't know of it's lasting appeal, it sounds pretty dope right now. Especially when you're walking in for a pint on Thursday night DJ light show at your local dive. And that's really all you can ask for.

What it is though, is good background music, which when you hear at bar, you'll begin humming to the familiar melody.

Although Port Entropy was released last Spring in Japan, it's good to see a vinyl pressing at an affordable price for those of us in North America. And the sound, you ask? Top-notch indie pop, as expected from Shugo Tokumaru, which was one of the best records of the genre to be released in 2010. Here are two jambs to tap your toes too and warm your winter ventricles.

1. Beach House - Teen Dream (Sub Pop)
It always felt like “Teen Dream” was going to be the greatest: it sounded like nothing else and everything after just wasn’t quite good enough. This record came out very early in 2010 and the whole time I knew it was going to be #1. Thanks BH.

2. Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (Def Jam)
Hip hop has never sounded so artfully raw. Yeezy’s promising talent delivered to it’s fullest, creating a sensation and an album demanding to be heard all the way through.

3. Privacy - Songs (Marriage)
“Songs” really sound be the blueprint of the 21st century record: short, sweet and completely on the A-Side. Out in time to leave you begging for more and is sounding even better in this New England winter.

4. Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - Before Today (4AD)
Another example of example of talent paying off: complete with a backing band (having a drummer from Beachwood Sparks is ALWAYS a sure thing), Ariel Pink’s fucked up pop music hit the mainstream, giving me hope that THIS is what the radio will be playing in 10 years.

5. Harlem - Hippies (Matador)
Like it should be: radical.

6. Personal and the Pizzas - Raw Pie (1-2-3-4 Go!)
This is a collection of singles and what not from Personal and the Pizzas, each song a blast of saucy fun. Still need to cop this on wax, but the tape Burger released of it is still treating me just right, brah.

7. Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest (4AD)
The best show I saw this year was Deerhunter, playing in Northampton, MA with Kurt Vile. I took a friend of mine to the gig and later her boyfriend was a total prick to me. Like it says in “Helicopter”: I keep no company.

8. Lower Dens - Twin-Hand Movement (Gnomonsong)
I’m sensing a theme this year: people who were always great sounding greater than ever before. Jana Hunter’s band was totally slept on, which is stupid because Lower Dens is the realest thing to hit my ears in years.

9. Joanna Newsom - Have One On Me (Drag City)
Looking at “Have One On Me” in iTunes is overwhelming to say the least. Listening to it on the beautiful box set it’s 3 LPs were housed in is ethereal. You tell yourself you’re going to maybe play one side from LP 1, but you always ended up playing the whole thing anyway. And how timeless did it sound? Newsom still proves that she is above everyone and everything while remaining grounded and completely accessible. That’s a dumb sentence, but whatever it works.
