No Age have shared "An Impression", track 5 from August 20's An Object. This will be nice to hear in context, but is very pleasant on it's own.

I'm afraid to be living in a time where No Age announce a new album and no one is flipping out. An Object is out August 20th on Sub Pop and I am very excited to hear their newest masterpiece.

Check out "C'mon Stimmung" which puts the duo's further progression fully on displayed while dipped in that delicious rock n roll flavor that they make so goddamned well.

Video: Fever Dreaming

I don't know guys... save for the charming clip for "Goat Hurt" and the explosive bliss that was "Eraser", No Age have had some of the worst videos that an awesome band could ever hope to have.

This new clip, for "Fever Dreaming", is no exception: conceptually, the idea works but man the execution tanked. It's a shame considering it was directed by Patrick Daughters who (even with turds) usually knocks it out of the the park. People are jazzed about the end so uh.... watch out for it? Try not to get bored first?

No Age on Letterman: WOW! Seriously, way to go guys! Dave and Paul seemed to have thought they ripped too. I bet they partied and ate vegan treats together all night long! GO TEAM!

High School Record trailer

Factory 25 is giving the film "High School Record" a wide release come October. It features members of No Age, Mika Miko, Lavender Diamond and the Minutemen. I saw it when P4k had it for stream on their site and it was pretty cool. I would indeed recommend a viewing.

Available on DVD October 27th via Factory 25, High School Record follows four awkward 17-year-olds as they struggle through their senior year. Like most high school students, they ride a continual wave of embarrassment: crappy after-school jobs, attempted sex in the science room, tinfoil shorts, guitar-strumming hippie teachers, and brushes with the law. The only difference is that their moments of humiliation are all caught on tape — our gang of four are the subjects of a documentary shot by fellow classmates. The film stars band members of No Age, Mika Miko, Lavender Diamond and Minutemen and was an official selection of Sundance, SXSW and New York Underground Film Festivals. DVD extras include 13 minutes of deleted scenes and a short film that influenced High School Record.

Factory 25 will be releasing five titles through the remainder of 2009. In addition to High School Record, the Brooklyn, NY independent film and music label will be releasing 1001 Nights featuring Damon and Naomi, Frownland directed by Ronald Bronstein, All The Way From Michigan Not Mars featuring Rosie Thomas, Sufjan Stevens and Denison Witmer and You Weren't There: A History of Chicago Punk 1977-84.

Noise For Obama!

I have been subconsciously praying for a way to link Lightning Bolt, Deerhoof and No Age together other than being fucking amazing, but last night I was finally given a way: Noise For Obama. A new website launched by noise artists in support of future United States President Barack Obama, it gives personal statements from members of the bands I just mentioned as well as the radical Foot Village and a link to register to vote (pretty pointless as you've already done so, right?).

Don't worry, it doesn't end there: Lightning Bolt's Brian Chippendale is lending his Black Pus project to a split 12 inch with Foot Village which collects tracks that originally appeared on their split cassette and adds a bonus Foot Village jam and 2 Black Pus jams. To make the deal sweeter, included is a 16" x 22" poster of a full colour animal photo with screened art by Chippendale on top of it (it should be noted that BC's art is amazing, and has 2 widely available art books/comics available from PictureBox Inc: Ninja and Maggots [the cover is pictured above, but it comes minus the Obama face]). All profits go to support the Obama campaign and it sees release October 14th from Deathbombarc. You can order it now right here.

Our friends over at Insound were rad enough to ship my "Eraser" vinyl single to me on Saturday, a mite bit early from the April 8th release date. It does serve as an applicable teaser for May's "Nouns" lp from the lovable No Age. The b-side manages to fit 3 covers on itself and they do not disappoint. My only complaint is that Sub Pop did not release a download code with this one. Rats. If anyone has a rip, send it on over to unicorntastic@gmail.com. Word.

To say we took a break is an understatement. Time got the best of me, and I never got around to finishing my top 15 songs of 2007 posts and to move forward you've got to complete that which was start. 09. HEALTH - Perfect Skin

Just got this record on wax a few weeks back and it sounds great. "Perfect Skin" rules even harder on it. This track is so fucking powerful, and it has the best sounding drums I've maybe ever heard.

07. Alicia Keys - No One

My personal favourite pop song of the year and the only radio track that didn't make me want to shoot myself. Old girl has pipes and when that synth lines kicks in, it's over for me. Pure gold.

06. Dri - Free Tonight

2007's party anthem. "Smoke Rings" was unstoppable, and I see it dominating 2008.

04. No Age - Neck Escaper

No Age is the Jesus of punk music. I like this song cause it's catchy and it's from my favourite single of theirs. I'm pretty sure their debut on Sub Pop is my most anticipated album of '08.

03. Spank Rock & Benny Blanco - Loose (featuring Amanda Blank)

Another Matt posted gem. The whole Bangers & Cash ep was a party for me (dudes: where's the full length?) and this was it's crowning achievement. Amanda Blank spits fire at the closing end of this opus.

02. Scout Niblett & Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - Kiss

Beautiful, beautiful music. I loved the output from both of these heavyweights of rock this year, but no one can deny the power of "Kiss". A perfectly orchestrated song from the beginning to end. A real tear jerker/love partier/gash slayer.

01. Sam Sparro - Black & Gold

From the second I heard it, I knew "Black & Gold" was my favourite song of the year. Catchy as all fuck and sung by Sparro's soulful voice, it's like all the best drugs being transmitted to your ears. Count me in! Hope 2008 brings an lp from this modern wonder.

No Age continue to slay streaming internet video

We love No Age, and this performance at Other Music in NYC during CMJ time is proof further why us musical blogs get erect for such rad jams from these gents. Dig that new song "Sleeper Hold", is it showing up on the Sub Pop debut mayhaps? Oh and "Neck Escaper" never gets old, rock that shiz for life. I will.

Hey everybody. Sorry it's been more than a couple of days since our last post, and tomorrow we'll get the mp3 train a choo-chooing again but for now please enjoy the following.

No Age let Vice TV into their practice space recently and the video is now up thanks to VBS.tv. This was good timing since I'm still plenty into "Weirdo Rippers" and I got the "Every Artist Needs A Tragedy b/w Loosen This Job" seven inch in the mail on Friday. It's a No Age party at my place, I can assure you, and I am getting more and more excited for their Sub Pop debut. Thanks to the folks at Vice for the heads up.

NOTE: Today's contribution comes from Matt Giordano, who actually wrote this a couple of weeks ago, before the album came out here in the states. So he had crazy cred, except I took forever to post it, thus robbing him of all possible kudos. Sorry? Fuck yeah.

It's slightly humourous that I found out about this band whilst in London two months ago, seeing as how they're from L.A. and all, but it just seems appropriate due to the fact I was surrounded by a couple of great up-and-coming designers and noise enthusiasts. To put it bluntly, No Age fucking rips, but not in the typical sense. Their songs mirror angst and drip punk ethos, yet are so well written and arranged that the listener empathises with the subject and recognises the beauty in what's being lost. Their debut compilation "Weirdo Rippers" is available on 28 August in North America (it's already been out in the UK for two months). Not only does this disc come highly recommended, but it is one of the years most fully-realized debut outputs, and that's quite an accomplishment.
