I've long been hoping for a new Pissed Jeans record and it finally looks like that's what I'm getting: Honeys, their 3rd Sub Pop full length release, comes out February 12th 2013 and the opener, "Bathroom Laughter", shows a band out from the swamp and at the top of their game. This was pulled out the trash, and it will fucking kill you. Enjoy.

The Best Song Ever: All Night Radio - Sad K [MP3]
With a new Beachwood Sparks album on the way, and our ever devotion to the them over here, I've been listening to a lot of All Night Radio. There's just something inherently gorgeous about the layers upon layers of psychedelia following in and out of one another. And the clarity! Each instrument is giving it's own space, coming and going in soft entrances. Our love of this album especially has led it to possibly being posted in full before The Slider, even. Enjoy.

Rejoice: The Sparks are back with a new record with the classic lineup! The Tarnished Gold comes out June 26th from their old pals Sub Pop and of course it's going to be good and of course the first song from it, "Forget the Song", is amazing. This is all obvious, why are we even talking about it?

Spaceships? Forests?! Holy shit, HOT TRAXXX alumni Niki & the Dove really "get" me. The album comes out in May, I think on the 15th for the USA. I saw them play a few weeks ago and they were beyond terrific, so naturally I'm pretty pumped for this LP.

After last year's Kansas sounding affair Destroyer of the Void, Portland's Blitzen Trapper have upped the tempo to something more akin to Furr and Wild Mountain Nation whilst improving on the melodic attempts on Destroyer... What does that mean? (Other than the obvious of being partially familiar with their back catalogue.) Well, fans can expect to tap their toes (and occasionally their heads) along to this contemporary alternative country music band.

It raises all sorts of questions for the sound of the forthcoming album's counterpart, but what's presented here is pure pop TNT, completely impossible to resist. 26 plays on my iTunes and rising...

New Dum Dum Girls: Coming Down
While last year's I Will Be failed to contain any lasting power despite early promise (Matthew would be more harsh in his review, believe me), the forthcoming Only in Dreams could be the Dum Dum Girls record listeners had been longing for (and not the one they needlessly hype).
"Coming Down" gives me hope that the album will be less of a tribute to the records their producer had made and more of a product of actually his (and the band's) natural talent. Don't expect a party though - this song is the after party, a 6 minute and 31 second burner through and through.

It's been so long since these sounds (whatever genre you want to label it as, though for the sake of this piece let's just call it "music") have sounded fresh - or as good, but then again, Washed Out was out of the game for a little while. It really shows the lasting power of "Life of Leisure" and the "High Times" tape because everyone who was touched by them sure got a lot of milage from it all.
But it's Summer 2011, a perfect (and current) time for a comeback: by now "Within and Without" opener "Eyes Be Closed" is old news, but today track 3 has been splashed upon us from above: there's no doubt who you're hearing when listening to the song, called "Amor Fati": you instantly feel a sense of soothing familiarity, allowing you to unabashedly feel blissed, coated in the sunshine's gaze: hopeful for the future, but feeling better than ever about the past because 'fuck it'.
