GO TEAM: Tape Deck Mountain - Always Lie [MP3]

MP3: Tape Deck Mountain - Always Lie

"Always Lie" is a beautifully giant leap forward for gaze rockers Tape Deck Mountain. You can download the digital 7 inch for however much you'd like, plus an email address over at their Bandcamp page. Also, don't forget to pre-order/help them fund Sway, the release that this song will appear on - if this gem is any indication of what we're in for, it's gonna be a dope ass ride to the stars.

No Joy - Lunar Phobia [STREAM]

Always wanted to like No Joy, but it just never clicked for me. Enter "Lunar Phobia": the first single from their sophomore LP sounds like a step in the right direction.

Wait to Pleasure is out April 23rd on Mexican Summer.

HOT TRAXXX: Tamaryn - I'm Gone [STREAM]

Tamaryn's last album The Waves is still a huge favorite of mine, so it's safe to say any new music is highly anticipated. Well, we're all in luck: Tender New Signs is out on October 16th (via Mexican Summer) and the first single (it's GREAT!) is available now in a YouTube video. Hope you like flowers!

HOT TRAXXX: R. Kelly - Share My Love [VIDEO]

R. Kelly
"Share My Love"
RCA 2012

After weeks of listening to a bootleg audio track of this on YouTube, it's finally got a video. While it's hard to compare it to the videos for "Echo" and "Be My #2", Kells is bringing a more formal element to the composition which we'd seen in last year's "When a Woman Loves" clip. Enjoy.

HOT TRAXXX: Icona Pop - I Love It [VIDEO]

Bandwagon, jumped. I love it. Enjoy.

HOT TRAXXX: Kitty Pryde - Okay Cupid [VIDEO/MP3]

MP3: Kitty Pryde - Okay Cupid

"Okay Cupid"

Directors: Bryan Mckay and Shannen Ortale

Party time! 19 year olds "get it" every now and then: that's certainly worth a blue ribbon and a cake.

HEALTH - TEARS [STREAM]

Fuck yeah, new HEALTH music is always a damn good thing and these dudes just seem to keep getting better each time. Now they're scoring video games, that's some next level shit (get it?).

HOT TRAXXX: Major Lazer - Get Free (feat. Amber of Dirty Projectors) [MP3]

MP3: Major Lazer - Get Free (feat. Amber Coffman of Dirty Projectors)

It's 84 fucking degrees outside, of course this is the best sounding song in the world.

Download an actually pretty cool remix as well, in exchange for your precious soul: http://www.majorlazergetfree.com/

Yuck - Chew [STREAM]

"Chew" is Yuck's musical contribution to "keeping up the good work". If you love riffs and dreamy vocals like we all do, this is your kinda thing.

DAVID BOWIE FRIDAYS: Dirty Projectors - Gun Has No Trigger [STREAM]

Enjoy.

HOT TRAXXX: Beach House - Myth [MP3]

MP3: Beach House - Myth

The year has been going so nicely, and as phase 2 begins so does it's first stellar move: a new Beach House song has arrived!

"Myth" shows a band aged like a fine wine, as infectious and improved as ever. The new record is called Bloom, and it's out in May on Sub Pop. Your summer already has it's soundtrack - as the years pass, we're all going to look back at that time as the greatest of our lives, because of this. Let's not fuck it up.

FUCK YEAH: Lightning Bolt - I Found a Ring in My Ear [MP3]

MP3: Lightning Bolt - I Found a Ring in My Ear

Straight from the Bolt:

"A 20 minute Jam recorded in the Hillarious Attic, Lair of the Lightning Bolt on 1.31.11. Straight to our trusty Tascam 420 cassette 4 track. No edits, No worries. The track might start a little discombobulated, but it congeals, soars. Swallows itself. Please download for free or send a little cash to help patch the leaks in the boat. thanks"

It rules.

Catwalk - Christmas Don't Be Late [MP3]

MP3: Catwalk - Christmas Don't Be Late

Not sure if we'll post any X-MenX-Mas tunes beyond this, but today's selection is certainly a keeper.

I had never heard any Catwalk before this Chipmunks cover, but dude's (tiny) back catalogue is just as great as this song, so track it down.

HOT TRAXXX: GOTHAM

MP3: HEALTH - GOTH STAR

Hey, right off the bat I just want to say to HEALTH that it's sooooooo nice to hear anything new from you guys! You've really been missed! I guess these dudes are spending time making awesome covers because this, their version of Pictureplane's "Goth Star", is everything these things should be. Now it's totally a HEALTH song while keeping everything that is special about the original intact: namely it's glitterbomb fireworks display and it's genius sampling of Fleetwood Mac's oft-forgotten "Seven Wonders".

Not that anyone needed a reminder of how great this track was but GODDAMN it still has legs! Good on you, nuders.

FUCK YEAH: Deathbound

MP3: Mastodon - Deathbound

Just watch and download, you don't need to be a dick about it.

Wet face.

MP3: Little Wings - Sandy Babe

I still plan on doing a post on Little Wings' very, very great new album "Black Grass" that came out a few months back, but seeing as the day is just so goddamned beautiful I'm going to grace you with something else first. "Sandy Babe" was a digital single given away by his imprint Rad Records back in 2009. It always screams summertime to me.

Here's to sunnier daze.

MP3: Summer Camp - I Want You

WOW! I had never heard Summer Camp before the release of their new hit single "I Want You" but this shit is pretty all right! This will appear on an upcoming full length out later this year. But yeah this song is airtight, I can't wait to hear this album!

For those SXSW bound, they'll be there so seek them out! Get googling!

Holding hands outside of the school dance.

MP3: Girlfriends - Gov't Seizure
MP3: Girlfriends - Good to Be True
MP3: Girlfriends - Slugger

Girlfriends are from Boston, Massachusetts and man, they're fuckin' swell. Fun and catchy without being anything less than bad ass.

Enjoy a song from each of their current (as of 02/01/11) releases: their s/t cassette (here), their free digital single for Good to Be True (here) and their Gov't Seizure 7 inch (here).

You'll be real glad I turned you onto these dudes, trust me.

FUCK YEAH: Stockholm Rock City

MP3: Paper - Coming from you

I really cannot believe I slept on not listening to this earlier, as Paper's debut An Object was a blinder of post-punk goodness and they tear it up live. About a month had passed prior my hearing this, yet now it's been stuck in my head and it's all I've wanted to hear. Perhaps it's the furious delivery, or Carl Olsson's terse vocals, or the awesome keyboards—but most likely all of it. I cannot wait until their new album Mischmasch is released, so until then, enjoy.

New Lykke Li: I Follow Rivers

A new stream popped up for "I Follow Rivers", the new single from a darker, more radical Lykke Li. It appears on her upcoming "Wounded Rhymes" which it's safe to say we're all excited for.
