The Best Song Ever: The Shoplifter's Union

MP3: The Fine Arts Showcase - The Shoplifter's Union

When I first met FY!GT! writer Matthew Giordano, he mailed me 3 cd-rs to my address in Portland. They were all native of Sweden and I was at once schooled in this wonderful music coming from out of there. Dude is an expert, believe me. Anyway, the Fine Arts Showcase's "Radiola" was one of those albums and "The Shoplifter's Union" is flawless.

I'm seeing MJG this weekend for the first time in years so I'm going to be posting songs that remind me of him off and on this week, because he's my homie.

89.

MP3: The Bear Quartet - Least Loved (Of The Unloved)

IT'S THE MATT GIORDANO (ALMOST) WEEK HERE AT FUCK YEAH! GO TEAM!

Hello, from another installment of the Matt Giordano (almost) week here at the blog. Monday being labor day is what makes it an almost week of course... but it's a week of guest posts from our favourite contributor!! Enjoy the good, the bad and the Swedish. Yum!

So the most important band of the decade has a new album out today (09/09/09), and it's grand. Basically, if you don't listen to The Bear Quartet then you're a fool. Get on the fucking boat.

In anticipation.

The Bear Quartet - Euthanasia
MP3: The Bear Quartet - Birds Are Singing Deep Within The Greenery
MP3: The Bear Quartet - The Repairing Of The Red Sea

NOTE: Today's contribution comes from lil' Matt Giordano. Shockingly, this is his first post on the Bear Quartet in the entire history of this blog. Seriously, you'd get how crazy that is if you knew him. Never too late? Fuck no!

Listen up music world. The new album by the greatest band on the planet is coming out on 9 September, and what better way to get your ears ready than by offering up a couple of classic tracks. One could state that every song by The Bear Quartet is a classic, and that wouldn't be to far off—especially of late, as three of their recent albums are amongst the definitive of the decade (2001's Ny Våg, 2004's Saturday Night and 2006's Eternity Now). Here is a song from each.

89, the new album by The Bear Quartet is, again, out 9 September. A song will be available on the blog around then.

The Fine Arts Showcase

MP3:
The Fine Arts Showcase - Friday On My Knees

NOTE: Today's second in a double shot of contributions comes from Matt Giordano, who sheds is temporary tough guy image for something from the Swedes. Like a jacket or something, since it's getting cold. Fuck yeah? Not really.

Woah, two posts from two of next year's projected best albums in a row? We here at Fuck yeah! Go team! sure love you all. What The Fine Arts Showcase gives us here is a logical progression from their last (and fantastic) album Radiola—their trademark brand of pop music, yet with their psychedelic influences brought further to the front. Enjoy, and anticipate.

Printer

MP3: Printer - Satisfaction

Printer's new record "Can You Take More?" may have come out earlier this year on the always excellent and consistent Adrian Recordings, but it is hardly old news. This sucker is chock full of great pop songs made from beats and a highly capable voice to steer the whole thing right where you want it to be, and along the way you'll find some clever hooks, interesting musical choices and plenty of smiles. It's not too late to snag this one for your collection, get on it. You'll love it.
