Deerhunter - Rhythm + Colorscale [MP3]

It's been a rainy couple of days and when that's the case you usually go running to your old favorites. Here are the 2 Japanese bonus tracks for Deerhunter's Halcyon Digest. I know we keep posting outtakes for that album, but we really are excited for BC's new Atlas Sound album. This is just how we get through the pain of not having a copy of it yet. One day, in 2012, we'll all look back on this post and laugh at it, but not today. Enjoy.

Twin Sister - Gene Ciampi [MP3]

MP3: Twin Sister - Gene Ciampi

That new Twin Sister record In Heaven sure is nice, but let's go ahead and take a look at some bonus (and completely album-unrelated) images from cover artist/genius Jonny Negron. Enjoy.

Bleached - Think of You [VIDEO]

Neat film for the Bleached track "Think of You" from the Carter 7 inch. Old news, but still cool. Cameos galore that may interest you if you're into California.

FUCK YEAH: Applebees

MP3: Mean Jeans - Forever Young

Tonight's the night! The whole team is excited for the long awaited Mean Jeans show at Don Pedro's in Brooklyn tonight - I thought I was gonna have to move back to Portland to see these dudes live! They go on at 11PM, it's $6 and it's gonna rule. Tweet at us if you wanna buy me and Matthew drinks, we'll gladly drink them.

So here is their cover of "Forever Young" that appeared on the latest Trouble in Mind 4 way split. Everyone loves a rarity right?

Have a fun weekend, but unless you're at this it's probably not gonna be as killer (good luck though!).

GO TEAM: Say My Name Triumphant

ALBUM STREAM:

Say My Name returns with Say My Name 2, an album that finds the Kid utilizing a grandiose pallet of intentions and ideas that hit the mark every single time.

Each track tells a story unique to your imagination, bursting with back handed pimps, gash fountain babes and drugs that haven't even been invented yet... or at least that's what I hear. Honestly what is so fascinating about SMN's music is that it's entirely open to interpretation, but is so brilliant that even the biggest village idiot has boost towards "getting it".

Take for example two of the Kid's all-star collaborators on this LP: Kenneth Kupfer's long fingered, skull cane ladden artwork for the cover makes complete sense, as does Range Life Records honcho and not-frequently-enough FY!GT! contributor Zach Hangauer's Wonder Woman vs. injustice video for single "La Cygne" (available for viewing below). It's seriously worth investing in a project of Say My Name inspired art projects, but in the meantime it's beyond worth investing in Say My Name 2 - and you can September 20th when it's available for digital consumption.

Nosebleed

MP3: Deerhunter - Nosebleed

In our wait to the upcoming Atlas Sound record, and whenever Deerhunter decide to drop another banger, here's the b-side from the "Memory Boy" seven inch which came out on Record Store Day earlier this year. Enjoy.

Frothing.

Colleen Green is been a welcome addition to the land of finely crafted musical beasts and her upcoming Cujo 12 inch for Art Fag only raises bars higher. It's drenched with hooks, nugs and Kindergarten Cop sound bytes - the classic formula of a sure thing. "Rabid Love" is a song on it and it's soooo good! Enjoy it like you would a fine wine that is gonna get you drunk and brave.

Cujo is out on October 4th.

Video: Crete'n

The team agrees: the new Saviours LP is total goddamn aces. Here's the vid for "Crete'n", dig in mother fuckers.

New Blouse: Videotapes

More magic from Portland magicians Blouse, who after 2 genius singles have at long last announced their debut full length which is going to be self-titled. I don't get self-titling albums, but whatever. The point is this is going to be great and it's out November 1st on Captured Tracks.

SELF TITLED/SELF HELP

Finally got around to checking those dudes Widowspeak and their self titled debut that just came out on Captured Tracks. It sounds real good! It's also very fitting of this rainy cold weather that New England has been cloaked in all this week. I'm not complaining, I truly am loving that I can wear long sleeves again. Autumn = class.

Oh, but yeah check these guys out if you haven't yet. They're nice, especially if you love Mazzy Star. Do these bands cry over that comparison or are they bad ass about it like the groups that are covers of Black Sabbath or the Ramones and totally own up to it and we can all have a good time? I hope it's the latter...

New Kurt Vile: The Creature

Looks like come November 8th Matador Records will re-release this year's great Smoke Ring for My Halo because... um? But the bright side of such a pointless endeavor is that it's being packaged with (and thankfully available on it's own 12 inch vinyl release) So Outta Reach, a new ep of 6 songs from those sessions, touched up upon and thrown at an adoring public. Oh and one of the songs is a cover of Boss classic "Downbound Train". You know, this one:

Maybe it sounds like this?

HOT TRAXXX: Warm in the Winter

Hot damn! Glass Candy released another on fire single - it's called Warm in the Winter, it's backed with "Beautiful Object" and it just further proves these mother fuckers can hang, staying cool as hell.

FUCK YEAH: Bang

MP3: Big Business - Guns

I've got to go and get some beers for tonight, so this is a quick one - enjoy the best song on the recent Quadruple Single by Big Business. Have a good weekend!

Video: Bad Feeling

New video from Veronica Falls for their new single "Bad Feeling", which is out in 7 inch form now on Slumberland. It's also appearing on September 20's self titled debut which is highly anticipated by everyone cool, including yours truly.

Cool video, burning shit in the woods is pretty bad ass.

(I also really like this video to "Come On Over" which will also be on the LP)

HOT TRAXXX: GOTHAM

Hey, right off the bat I just want to say to HEALTH that it's sooooooo nice to hear anything new from you guys! You've really been missed! I guess these dudes are spending time making awesome covers because this, their version of Pictureplane's "Goth Star", is everything these things should be. Now it's totally a HEALTH song while keeping everything that is special about the original intact: namely it's glitterbomb fireworks display and it's genius sampling of Fleetwood Mac's oft-forgotten "Seven Wonders".

Not that anyone needed a reminder of how great this track was but GODDAMN it still has legs! Good on you, nuders.
